Why Native Plants?
Native plants are the foundation of healthy local ecosystems. They provide food, shelter, and other resources for insects and wildlife that have evolved alongside them.

Native plants provide food and habitat for pollinators, insects, birds, and other wildlife.
RESTORE BIODIVERSITY
Replacing invasive or low-value landscaping with diverse native species can help rebuild local ecological communities.
BRING HABITAT HOME
Yards, neighborhoods, campuses, and other private lands can all become part of a larger network of native habitat.
We’re making native habitat easier to create.
Instead of asking people to research dozens of plants and figure out what belongs in their landscape, we’re developing ready-to-grow native plant packages designed around specific habitats and species.
Our goal is simple: make it easier for more people to put native plants in the ground.

We’re building Growth Foundation through hands-on restoration, community action, and partnerships across our region.
HABITAT RESTORATION
We’re organizing hands-on projects to remove invasive species, collect native seed, and restore native habitat throughout Southwest Virginia.
CAMPUS RESTORATION
We’re working to restore wild habitat on our college campus and connect with campus greenhouse, environmental, and educational programs.
COMMUNITY ACTION
Growth Foundation members are organizing community projects in Los Angeles, including trash cleanup and wildflower planting.
RIVER & HABITAT CLEANUP
We’re developing future community events around the Knoxville area focused on kayaking, removing litter, and caring for local waterways and habitat.
